Keje lain takde. Sikit-sikit delete entri. Yela. Aku selama ni ingat aku tulis blog syok sendiri, takde sape bace. Lagipon aku takde letak followers kat sidebar sebab tanak dituduh perasan, jadi aku rase cam sikit je la followers aku. Yang datang banyak-banyak kat statistik tu sume sebab terbabas dari Google bile carik "hot Malay guy" pastu klik "I'm feeling lucky".

Tapi rupenye tidak. Aku baru sedar gerak-geri aku diperhatikan. Dan yang datang tu bukan sebab terbabas, tapi memang sebab diorang dah bookmark blog nih ataupon memang blog aku diletak sebagai frontpage browser diorang. Haha. Ye aku memang seorang yang perasan.

Jadi bile aku padam entri-entri aku, itu bermakna aku merasekan entri tersebut tidak menepati piawaian, atau entri tersebut boleh mendatangkan syak wasangka dan fitnah.

Ala bukan kes berat pon. Saje antara member-member. Yela, sejak aku mengetahui bahawa rakan-rakan terdekat aku pon rupenye bace blog aku pastu dalam diam kutuk-kutuk, maka aku pon terasa persecuted, terus aku cube ingat balik kalau-kalau ade entry yang kutuk diorang. Tapi selalunye, sebagai seorang yang jenis cakap tak pandang kiri kanan, aku memang kutuk diorang depan-depan baru tulis kat blog. Jadi tiada rahasia di situ.


ps: i forgot.have not been asking this for awhile.how are you guys doing lately?good i hope =)

Antidote

I think I'm gonna die. I need my curry dosage. I need to go home. Now!!! Haha talking about being mengada-ngada. Oooo I need my curry...

I've endured a 2.5 hours walk in the cold roman capital yesterday, just to find the right place to have a nice rice and curry meal. And yes, I decided to walk so that I will appreciate the curry more. And again yes, it helps me in sense of energy used vs. carb intake =)

In a local mamak, I was about to pay my bill, and the sky is abit gloomy when the cashier asked

How The Stock Market Works

Once upon a time, in a village, a man appeared and announced to the villagers that he would buy monkeys for $10 each.

The villagers seeing that there were many monkeys around, went out to the forest, and started catching them.

The man bought thousands at $10 and as supply started to diminish, the villagers stopped their effort.

He further announced that he would now buy at $20. This renewed the efforts of the villagers and they started catching monkeys again.

Soon the supply diminished even further and people started going back to their farms.

The offer increased to $25 each and the supply of monkeys became so little that it was an effort to even see a monkey, let alone catch it!

The man now announced that he would buy monkeys at $50 ! However, since he had to go to the city on some business, his assistant would now buy on behalf of him.

In the absence of the man, the assistant told the villagers. 'Look at all these monkeys in the big cage that the man has collected. I will sell them to you at $35 and when the man returns from the city, you can sell them to him for $50 each.'
The villagers rounded up with all their savings and bought all the monkeys. Then they never saw the man nor his assistant, only monkeys everywhere!

Now you have a better understanding of how the stock market works.

Financial Turmoil caused by Subprime

An explaination from a Malaysian, who is being employed by GE. At the moment, he is attached with GE Energy Asia Pacific, based out of Singapore.

"Let me try to explain with whatever little Financial Services knowledge I have from the experience with GE Money and GE Commercial Finance.

In a nutshell, when an investment bank syndicates a loan to the big companies, they never keep these loans in their books, they will package it and then sell it (just like Loan Securitization that GE does)…normally these are collateralized against an Asset which predominantly have been mortgages….when the SubPrime crisis exploded, people could not afford to repay their mortgages, the values of these Asset-backed securitized loans plummeted and when you have to do a Mark-To Market valuation every quarter (remember Wall St companies need to report every quarter) that's when the impact is felt, huge write offs are made and the banks make big losses.


The losses will decrease their EPS ( earning per share) which eventually will affect their share price (the lower the EPS, the lower is the PE ratio)…but when the share price tumbles down, the equity of the bank shrinks. But the banks need to have a certain amount of equity (its Called Tier 1, Tier 2 requirements by Basel Regulations) and that's why they go around asking for Capital Injection from Private Equities / Sovereign Wealth Funds (since they are normally the richest ones)…..So Temasek invested in Merril Lynch, Middle East Funds pumped money to Citigroup, Singapore Government Inc invested in UBS etc. When the credit crunch happened, the liquidity in the market has been so low that Private Equities and Pension Funds are also dried up.


When these banks cannot find someone and the prices keep falling, this is when they refer to as the banks being in DISTRESSED situation and that's what happened to Lehman who eventually had to declare Chapter 11 (i..e. under protection until they can recover). GE too is affected because 50% of our Income (about US$8 Billion) comes from GE Commercial Finance / GE Money.

Btw how does this affect the consumers? When there is a liquidity crunch in the market, it is more difficult for companies to raise Bonds or Commercial Papers or for Banks to lend amongst each other. This will result in the Cost of Fundings for these banks to go up which will eventually be passed on to the consumers which will then trigger an inflation.


Setakat ini je lah fahaman hamba….since the US Fed has announced a Bail Out package yesterday, the Dow Jones has been rallying like crazy (market just opened 30 minutes ago) and GE stock price is up 10%, Goldman up 24%, Citi up 25%.

Obviously only time will tell when this whole craziness will end."

I'm in Paris with Kumar and the newly wed wifey- Zay, trying to be Parisian. Kumar has lost his beer belly due to not having any rice meal for a week, at least.

Stuffed Crust Pizza

What is the probability of Pizza Hut's stuffed crust pizza will be out of stock when you are craving for it on a Sunday in Petaling Jaya?

Almost to none kan? There's 127 Pizza Hut outlet in Malaysia and 54 is in Selangor alone. 2 in Kota Damansara and one of it is touted as the biggest in the country. It doesn't make sense at all. Despite not being good in Additional Mathematics' Probability when I was in school, my logic works pretty good this time. Ahhhh stupid Pizza Hut...



ps: im sure ayol will be excited to find that rawang actually has 2 pizza hut outlet haha

Smart Dumb Boy

In abit, I'm about to undergo an exam. The usual bi-annual employment proficiency exam. Kowtim-ed the examiner. But, the boss maybe, might cause me some trouble. Why? I tell you why.

4 days ago I had this conversation with the examiner(we were on the same assignment) and he told me something he said to the boss when he was doing the boss' training about 10 to 15 years ago.

Examiner: A****w, you look like a smart boy (harmless provoking tone)

A****w: No I'm not (in an attempt to be humble I guess)

Examiner: Okay. You are a smart dumb boy...

He never finish his story but the examiner and I, had a long good laugh after that. Despite having kowtim-ed the examiner, I think I need the luck. A lot!




ps: both of them,boss and examiner are two good man

December 2009

I managed to post all blog in December 2009 with a title started from the letter B. An achievement for the Northern Monkey. And also in December, NM has clocked the 3000th visitor. Nothing big, but it is something. Pat on the back again for Northern Monkey.

ps: december 2009 was the best month in 2009 for northern monkey

New Year

Kumar got married on the new year eve. Congratulations brother. There goes your new year for the rest of your life haha.
