Under achiever betul

First of all gua berbangga dengan recent achievement by our national side to clinch the AFF Suzuki Cup 2010 with style. Money well spent. What a glorious way to wrap year 2010. Hopefully this victory won't be a one-off thingy. Kudos to Mister Rajagobal. Whole nation is lifted by you. Thumbs our =D

But! In my personal opinion, the decision by the PM to declare a public holiday on the 31st December is too much. Potraying our nation as an under-achiever. Sikit-sikit nak public holiday. menang sikit nak public holiday. Penat lah macam ni. Imagine kalau menang World Cup. Apa public holiday setahun? Kasik compose la sikit. Chill sudah. Baru nampak macam menang tu satu benda yang biasa untuk kita. Winning mentality orang putih cakap.

Francois' white christmas

Today Francois will be discharged from the hospital, after a meniscus correction surgery a week ago in Fontainbleu, a suburb in Paris. As I was informed, he will be transported to a rehabilitation center nearby with an ambulance. I hope you will enjoy the ride. Merry Christmas brother.

As I turned on my phone, I received a text from my best mate...

Bro... Ayah aku baru meninggal. Al-fatihah

It was about 6 in the morning in the shivering Paris. I was paused. I did not know what and how to react. I felt like being pulled to the ground. To be honest, as much as I hate it, the sorrow feeling suddenly has grown to a size of Manhattan's ego.

The late father, which was last I met during my brother's wedding last July is one of a few friend's dad that I can build a long chatty conversation, effortlessly. At one point, a short chat could easily take half an hour. I still vividly remember what was the topic all about.

Throughout the years, I reckon that I had established a some sort of what I call a "special relationship" with the late father. And it is sad that I can't attend the funeral.

My deepest condolence to you and the whole family. Al-fatihah.

2010 KPI

A lot of things has happened since last I updated this blog. A lot.

Anyway, today is a mere 4 days away from Christmas and 10 days to 2011. And I, achieved my 2010 KPI of having 10 posts per month. I actually exceeded the KPI by having a total of 125 posts including this one. As a CEO, I propose a 20 months bonus and 5 millions share options for me =p

4 days ago, I twitted that I like Martin Skrtel. He's a Liverpool FC player that has scored 2 goals (1 in the opponent's and another in his own) in the match against Tottenham Hotspur last weekend. The match ended Liverpool 1- 2 Tottenham Houtspur. A friend retwitted, "Afdlin Shauki marah dowh kalau baca tweet lu ni". And I inreply, "Konfem2 la. Lu mmg bikin panas" hoping that Afdlin Shauki will reply. Siut lah, kutu tak reply-reply sampai harini. Penat gua tunggu lu. Kutu memang tak makan pancing. Umpan besar tu.

Kes 1

Alamak. Datuk Sosilawati kene bakar.

Cis. Tak sempat aku nak bagitau die yang jenama barangan kosmetik "Nouvelle Visages" beliau mengandungi 2 kesilapan tatabahasa yang tiada tolok bandingnya.

Kesalahan pertama. Dalam French, 'visage' (muka) bersifat maskulin, manakala 'nouvelle' (baru) adelah adjektif yang bersifat feminin. Jadi memang tidak sesuai digandingkan bersama. Dalam Bahasa Melayu, ia boleh diibaratkan macam cakap, "Datuk Najib kelihatan anggun jelita hari ini." Adjektif yang sepatutnya digunekan adelah 'nouveau'.

Kesalahan kedua. Dalam "Nouvelle Visages", visages adalah plural (muka-muka) manakala nouvelle adelah adjektif untuk objek tunggal. Dalam French, pembilang adjektif mestilah seiring dengan noun. Kalau dalam English, kite kata 'one big house -> two big houses', tapi dalam French die akan jadi 'one big house -> twobigs houses'.

Maka, jenama tersebut sepatutnya berbunyi "Nouveau Visage" atau "Nouveaux Visages" (kalau nak plural). Nouvelle Visages berbunyi sangat terencat. Setiap kali dengar aku rase nak bakar orang. Eh, lawak tak kene tempat.


Kes 2

Aku selalu jalan-jalan kat Malaysia pastu nampak papan tanda seperti "Restoran D'Firdaus". Atau "Kedai Gunting D'Beautiful". Atau "Taman D'Cempaka Ria." Atau "Felda d'Saji Kuala Lumpur".

Dalam French, "de" bermaksud of. Bukan "the". Dan de akan dipendekkan jadi d' hanya bile diikuti dengan huruf vokal. Contohnya "Le pied d'Antoine." Anthony's foot (atau lebih tepat lagi, the foot of Anthony). Ini adelah untuk mengelakkan dua vokal bertemu (de + Antoine) dan membentuk diphthong. Walaupun makanan bufet Ramadan Felda d'Saji memang sedap nak mampus tiada tandingan, tapi kesalahan menulisd'Saji instead of de Saji memang terencat.

Sile contohi restoran Le Château de Puah (dekat Jalan Puah, Bulatan Pahang, Kuala Lumpur). Walaupun makanan tak sedap langsung, cekik darah, hina, rasa macam cirit, nasi bukhari rasa macam nasi tomato tak cukup rasa, burger die rase macam celah kangkang cimpanzi, pastu mahal nak mampus, TAPI tatabahasa yang digunekan dalam penjenamaan restoran tersebut perlu dipuji. Ia menunjukkan bahawa pemilik restoran tersebut telah mendalami aspek tatabahasa dan bukan hanya bagi nama membabi-buta asalkan kedengaran merdu, walaupun beliau lupa nak mendalami aspek pembuatan makanan sehinggakan makanan di restoran beliau tak sedap langsung, cekik darah, hina, rasa macam cirit, nasi bukhari rasa macam nasi tomato tak cukup rasa, burger die rase macam celah kangkang cimpanzi, pastu mahal nak mampus (*ulang bende sama*).



Jadi kepada sesiapa yang nak bukak empayar kosmetik atau restoran, sile pikirkan jenama anda sebaik-baiknya.

Itulah beza effect bila kita dapat birthday card dengan wish dari SMS, e-mail, facebook, twitter, YM atau Whatsapp. Sebab tu every year gua cuba sedaya upaya hantar kad raya kat parents gua, bagi birthday card kat adik-beradik gua.

Kat sini, gua nak ucap terima kasih kat kekawan gua yang seingat gua, tetiap tahun bagi kad hari jadi. Gua bukan takmau bagi birthday card kat lu orang personally, tapi gua takut kot-kot gua termiss bagi birthday card kang lu orang cakap gua bias pulak kan? So sebab tula gua join bagi lu orang birthday card share beramai-ramai dengan kekawan yang lain. Sharing is caring. Ok tak reason? Hehe.

Tapi gua harap lu orang faham effect birthday card tu. Jadi moral cerita kali ni, bawak-bawak la simpan iPhone lu orang dalam poket dan berborak lah dengan kekawan bila duduk semeja.

Bayangkan dunia yang penuh dengan manusia, tapi hanya bercakap di alam maya. Sedih kan?

Two weeks ago at supper, a friend of mine had suggested for me to have my own domain. If I'm not wrong, it was something like RM150 for e-mail only and RM300 for both web with e-mail. I think I'll make one for my dad as his birthday present LOL.

Where have I been? No, I did not go on a hiatus nor a holiday. Internet connection was abit imminent as I was living in an interim house. It was an unpleasant feeling not to have a proper home. Probably I will have the place, my new house ready to live in by this aidilfitri. Guys, do drop by for a ciggy or something like that =)

Oh, Francois has left for France. He will be in his hometurf, Paris for aproximately 72 hours. Just to seat for his exam. Yes 72 hours only. Mengalahkan celebrity travel. He will be back for aidilfitri this year. One that he has not celebrated for the last 5-6 years. Awwww...

Before I forget, Selamat Menyambut Hari Kemerdekaan ke-53. Something not to be celebrate. But something to be remembered. I guess.

Throughout the last 3 quarter of 2010, we have observed many changes in GLCs and MNCs CEOship. A few of my friends did tell me that they, had been offered to helm some of these MNC. Sime Darby, FELDA, Alliance Bank to name a few. But among all, my Petronas stewardship offer tapau-ed everything on the table. In another word, mine, championed the offer race ha ha ha. Therefore I now, self-proclaim myself as this year's winner of, CEO of the year offer award. What's next? TIME person of the year?

About 2 weeks ago, I had a good trip to South Africa. Not that I am bragging of having watched a World Cup match at the stadium (yeah right!), but during Match 3 Argentina vs Nigeria at the Ellis Park, Johannesburg, I become obsessed with this particular guy, an Argentinian supporter. I even had a thought of being like him if I were to be overweight later in life. That was my psychofreak moment in africa. Damn hahaha.

Basically kalau lu orang tanya gua, gua kalau boleh nak England menang. Bukan apa, gua syok dengan England punya chanting dengan cheering. Gua tadakla minat sangat dengan Steven Gerrard ke apa. Muka Fabio Capello tu, lagi la gua menyampah.

No doubt Messi memang hebat tahap gaban and ramai orang dok kata Argentina akan menang. Tapi kalau tolak gua punya syok, gua rasa Germany akan menang. I don't know about you but I, was mesmerised when I watched this presentation video on the Apple webpage when it was first revealed to the world at the WWDC 2010, 3am(GMT +8) yesterday . Again it's about power

Semalam gua saja test market nak tengok gua power ke tak. Nak tau apa gua buat? Gua telah membida tawaran kekosongan naik pangkat. Dateline bidding dia tengah malam tadi. Dasyat Human Resource division tempat kerja gua sekarang. Nak apply naik pangkat main klik kat internet je. Tak main type-type, isi-isi borang. Hopefully berjaya la kita kurangkan deforestation dengan effort macam ni kan?

Anyway, gua tau yang gua tak cukup power lagi, tapi apa salahnya cuba nasib kan? Mana tau kot-kot sebenarnya gua dah power tapi gua je yang tak tau, since gua dah pakai g-shock face kaler oren ni. Kita tunggu seminggu dua lagi, tunggu result tengok gua power ke tak sebenarnya. Sementara tu jom ikut gua berlari prepare untuk KL Marathon. Oger sekarang decide nak support Celtic since Liverpool dah tak berapa power

Kelmarin hari Isnin, gua tak berapa sihat. Gua punya tak sihat dah masuk hari ke 4 dah ni. Sengal-sengal badan, mild fever, flu dengan batuk-batuk sikit. Gara-gara global warming la ni kot gua rasa. Panas stok kow-kow punya. Ditambah pulak dengan kerja gua yang menimbun tak cukup hari sekarang ni. Konfem dapat mc kalau pi jumpa dokter.

Hari yang sama, lepas late lunch KFC dengan Aboo & Oger, gua balik rumah terus telan ponstan, panadol dengan clarinese. 3 jam lepas tu gua kembali gagah seperti sedia kala. Oger sebelum bertolak balik Kangar cakap "Jack, sakit perut pon lu hentam je ponstan tu haha. Sure ok punya". Gua dengan Aboo masih impressed dengan upper body Oger yang makin sasa. Aboo accused Oger layan steroid tapi macam biasa, Oger strongly deny statement Aboo tu.

Gua rasa semua orang rasa tak best hari Isnin haritu. Gua sebab tak sihat. Aboo sebab lawyer call masa dia tidur petang bagitau dia kena saman. Oger pulak sebab kena endure 5 hours drive balik Kangar. Harini gua kembali bekerja seperti biasa. Gua kembali sedar betapa nikmatnya sihat tu =)

When electronic overhead gantry is a waste of taxpayers' money

The place where I work, is very exciting (well, usually). Pretty much like chatting up a girl, playing Kumar's PS3 or maybe driving a Golf GTi. Maybe a combination of all three.

I can't include bungy jump and roller coaster ride. Because none of those is thrilling nor exciting to me. It is more to suicidal. So please exclude me from your next amusement park trip.

And of course scuba diving will not be in the list. Why?! Because it is ridiculously expensive and you can literally watch everything that the underwater world has to offer (almost everything), instantly without having to learn how to swim or dive, at the aquarium or the youtube, for free! Where will the excitement be, say if I were to go to scuba-dive after watching the videos? Blame all those underwater parks and seaworlds, and do thank Ayol for this one.

Early this month there were this Abe, orghe kelate dapek ne. And now, Jeremy ClarksonG (pronounce KLAT-SeNG). Yes, a Terengganu chap. I'm thrill, waiting what's next. Till then, stay tune guys. Stay tyunG...

Yesterday, I was at the office, to run some work-related errands. And as usual, there was no available parking. Having no choice, I decided to parking haram. Out of nowhere, I hear my boss' voice.

He was about 5 metres away in his car with window down, instructing me to tail-gate his car down to the basement parking.

You park at my slot. If the security ask, just mention my name

In the basement parking, he pointed at his slot as he drove away to park at somebody else slot. I've parked in a BOSSES-ONLY parking! wohohoho. Observe the marking on the parking slot. What was he thinking? I can bet no boss would let the staff to use his/her parking conciously. Damn my boss is nice. I tried to resist to not blog about this, but I can't.

Frankly, I think the half russian was quite right, though he has provoked the asian sensitivity. The chinese, despite having spent most of their live in Australia, I reckoned, were still having some sort of pirah's attitude (haha sorry I have to laugh). Because if you were there, you will know how wannabe they were. And luckily a female, who was at the right time, changed the topic in an abrupt manner to avoid a stir. Or perhaps a brawl.

Loose The Pirah

I was in London a few weeks ago to visit a friend. Me, having a holiday in London is not the whole point of the story. This is about something that we might not have realise that we are doing it. Some sort of unconcious act kind of thing.

While I was there, I find that melayu will always be melayu. Well you, don't have to brag about either you have studied or even worked in London. I'm not saying that my friend is being arrogant about he's being employed in the english land. No, he is perfectly normal, as he was before he left Malaysia 3 years ago.

I see people, as in Malaysian Malays (those who were born and raised in Malaysia), around 10-20% of them, in London particularly, opted not to speak proper Malay (bahasa melayu dengan banyak english accent) and find that eating with hand is disgusting. One word from me : PIRAHHHHH!!! I feel like vomitting. Takkan baru duduk England 4-5 tahun dah terus tak reti cakap melayu?! Kelakar lah korang ni. Gila short term memory.

Come on! Before you people left Malaysia, each of you spent at least good 17 years living in pure Malaysian culture. Consuming belacan, budu, cencalok, karipap, laksa, lontong, masak lemak, nasi lemak, rendang etc for 17 years! Okla if you dont eat belacan pun kot-kot sebab alergi, you still eat rice kan? No way you don't eat rice, because it's a staple food for we asians. Gile tipu kalau tak makan nasik. Unless-lah your parents is mat saleh. Then it would be a different case.

Anyway, these Malays in the UK, despite adopting this pirah culture, they still eat sambal belacan (chilly mixed with shrimp paste) haha. And when Hari Raya come, nak makan ketupat jugak. Tanak pulak diorang ni makan fish and chips.

So, long story short. Melayu will always be melayu. Period. Don't brag with your 5 years time that you have spent or are going to spend abroad. Kapish. Ikhlas, saya dari kaum yang memakan belacan, budu, cencalok dan yang seangkatan dengannya.

Last Saturday, unreluctantly I helped out Abah to paint out his brand new gate. Unlike other people, who use brush to coat their gates, my dad, use a for-car-paint-spray equipment to paint his hand-built gate. Brilliant finishing. If only you can see the result.
